Debbie's

My mom has a long time friend named Debbie that lives about a half hour away. Her kids and Buddy and I played together when we were little and lived in KY. Debbie's treats me like one of her own. I love her. There are so few people that I can totally be myself around, and I not worry if they are judging me. I feel like myself around her. She is "comfortable in her skin". She is so genuine. She has a beautiful home out in the country and has a great pond for fishing. We went this Saturday when the weather was so nice. The kids had a blast, esp with her granddaughter. Zac woke up yesterday asking to go back there. It was so nice. Thanks to Debbie.

2 months

8 week appt: Trevor was 12 lbs, 6 oz. (70th percentile) 24 inches (80th percentile).
He looked good. We are thankful that he has missed out on the family's sickness this late winter and early spring: impetigo, Zac's sinus infection, cousin's strep, occasional vomiting, Steve's upper resp junk, Fifth's disease, my pneumonia, chiggers and other varieties of running noses and uncovered coughs. Thank goodness for immunoglobins and antibodies. How 'bout a shout out for breast milk!
He is a happy baby. He coos a lot and grins all the time. He esp likes a diaper change and any time that you are close to his face talking to him. He dislikes baths, his back rubbed and his head touched. He's a little doll. No matter the day that I am having, when I hold him close and smell him, it softens my heart. I am so grateful for him.

The get- away!

Steve likes to plan a trip and have something to look forward to. He is quite good at it too. He planned a getaway for us all after this tax season. We left Thursday for La Folette, TN to a house that we rented on Norris Lake. It was only a 2 hour drive. The weather was perfect, the hot tub was bubbly, the beds were soft, the kids were good, the foos ball was fun, the roasted marshmellows were yummy, the grill worked like a charm, the tvs were big, the WII worked great, the walmart had what we needed, the house was comfy and clean, the jacuzzi tub was huge, the baby napped, the husband was awesome, the weekend was sweet! However, the chiggers were biting and the fish weren't. I bet Steve went to the dock, tackle in hand, 8 times with the dog and kids, and nada! Oh well. They had fun. They probably think that fishing is totally over rated...they'll get one though..next time. Thanks to Steve for planning the trip and being so good to me.

Easter

Quick Easter post...

Despite Jenna and her "habitually truancy" as described in the offical letter, we sluffed school and went to Indiana for the long Easter weekend. (the truancy thing is another post altogether.)
Thursday we went to dad and Regina's to celebrate and visit. That was very relaxing and enjoyable. I like going to their house. The cosuins had a blast as always. Regina is always a great hostess, so good to the kids...you too dad, but we know who is behind it all ;)
Friday Buddy's kids and we went to McDs and again colored Easter eggs that evening. With the 5 kids 7 and under, plus a baby...it got pretty colorful with the eggs, but mom is a pro and loves every minute of it. Fully prepared with paint shirts and 1/2 dozen eggs for each child with their own carton.
Saturday, we had Horst's bakery doughnuts, played and went to dinner with Uncle John, Buddy and Carrie and the gang and mom. That was fun. Steve came to Indiana Sat night.
Sunday we went to the Madison ward. I love it there. It feels like home to me. They had a great program with their choir retelling the story of Jesus Christ. - After church, we headed for Aunt Marilyn's. Every year my mom's side of the family gets together and has a big egg hunt and pitch in on Easter Sunday. There is a hunt for 12 and under, the 5 and unders get a head start. There is a teen and younger couple hunt, and there is a foggie hunt with all the aunts and uncles. The kids love it, the teens and younger couples race madly for the money in the eggs, and the aunts and uncles race tied together at the wrists. The younger ages get to hide the eggs for these guys, and it's a riot to watch them hunt for eggs that mostly have a corresponding funny gift that the younger group brings. The food is really awesome and it is fun to see everyone. We were glad to be able to go this year. The kids had fun playing with cousins..and 2nd cousins.

Death and Taxes

That's right. Death and taxes!
I am so thankful that today is the final day of tax season. Sure there are plenty of extensions, but I don't care! Back to 40 hour weeks, help with the kids for homework, FHEs, dinner, after dinner play, baths, bed time stories, prayer, evening fussiness, grocery runs, and bedtime. Oh and Saturdays together again- parks, yard work, cleaning, all that saturday stuff.
Even though I have been sick, today there is a little dance in my step and a little smile a-brewin' as I think of being with Steve again.
It works out so nice because I was at the end of my rope just in time for April 15th! There may have been some sort of casuality!

A Walk in the park

I love that it is Spring Break. I mostly love that there are no have-tos. I don't have to get up and get Jenna ready for school or pick her up at 2:35. I love that we sleep in, sort-of. I love that we hung out upstairs and watched Enchanted the other morning and then came down and had cinnamon toast and pears at 9:30. I love that we can start an adventure and not get there for an hour because we don't have to do it. Who cares if lunch is not at noon and the Zac misses his nap. As long as the baby eats, it's all good.
Anyway, I will be sad next week when it's back to 6:30 wake up for Jenna, and inevitably the baby and definitely Zac.
It's been a good week. I am so happy for the nice weather! I am grateful to be here with my kids.

We went to a trail today that runs along a creek, the kids had fun.

Dad comes to Utah!
